Empower Movement

June 18, 2026

Empower Movement is a class designed to increase physical strength through the use of hand weight resistance band and bodyweight exercise. The focus is a whole-body workout head to toe that will challenge various muscle groups in the body. The class begins with a proper warm-up of stretching leading into exercises for the upper and lower extremities including the core then wrapping up with a quick cool down.

New instructor: Mary Fran Grossman
Mary Fran has spent a lifetime learning teaching and moving-and she brings that same energy and enthusiasm to every class she leads. She got her start at Drake University earning her undergraduate degree in Health and Education in 1976 then went on to complete a Master’s in Exercise Science at the University of Michigan in 1980. She stayed on at Michigan as an adjunct professor in the Department of Physical Education from 1980 to 1982 and then worked in Intramural and Recreational Sports Department until 1987. Since then she’s continued to share her passion for fitness and wellness working part-time as an exercise and swimming instructor at the Ridgefield CT Recreation Center and the Kingsbury Club in Kingston MA. For over a dozen years Mary Fran coached both youth and adults in rowing and indoor erging classes at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School. These days you’ll find her leading water aerobics and fitness classes at the Kingsbury Club-and always encouraging others to stay active laugh a little and enjoy the process. In her free time Mary Fran is still on the move-she’s an avid masters rower swimmer biker and a big fan of pickleball. She’s excited to be teaching and looks forward to learning and laughing right alongside you!
